Pengaruh Air Lindi TPST Piyungan Terhadap Keberadaan Mikroplastik di Air Sungai Opak Yogyakarta

AI summary Read the abstract

Researchers investigated the influence of leachate from the Piyungan landfill on microplastic levels in the Opak River, Yogyakarta, finding 403 particles per milliliter near the leachate pond and demonstrating via ANOVA that landfill leachate significantly elevates microplastic abundance, with nylon identified as the predominant polymer type.

Researchers detected microplastics in leachate from the Piyungan landfill in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, measuring their abundance and polymer types. Since leachate from the landfill flows into a river used by local communities, microplastic contamination of the water poses a potential public health concern. The findings highlight landfill leachate as a source of microplastic pollution in surface water.

Occurrence and Distribution of MicroplasticsPollution in Surface Water and Sedimentsof Opak River, Yogyakarta

AI summary Read the abstract

This study quantified microplastics in surface water (4.15–12.3 particles/L) and sediments (960–3,080 particles/kg dry weight) at six sampling points along the Opak River in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Fragment shapes dominated, with black coloration most common, and FTIR analysis identified polystyrene, HDPE, polycarbonate, and nylon as the main polymer types present.
