Trash Cleanup at Lagunci Beach and Its Impact on Environmental Concern Among Junior High School Youth in Bahari III Village, South Buton Regency Abstract Lagunci Beach in Bahari III Village, South Buton Regency, a marine tourism destination with significant potential for the local economy, faces the challenge of plastic waste. Waste from tourist visits and seawater not only disrupts the aesthetics but also threatens the sustainability of coastal ecosystems and public health. This community service activity aims to increase environmental awareness among junior high school youth through a trash cleanup at Lagununci Beach combined with environmental education. Using a one-group posttest-only design, the activity involved 25 junior high school students who actively participated in the beach cleanup and a socialization session on the dangers of microplastics, waste sorting, and the role of the younger generation in coastal conservation. Quantitative data obtained through a post-activity oral test and analyzed using a One-Sample T-Test showed a significant increase in understanding compared to the minimum completion criteria (t(24) = 7.619, p < 0.001). Qualitative data revealed positive changes in attitudes, high enthusiasm, intentions to change behavior, and a growing sense of ownership of the coastal environment. The results of the activity demonstrate that an action-based approach is effective in instilling environmental awareness from an early age.
