Studi Kualitas Air Limbah Di Tinjau Dari Mikroplastik Di Rumah Sakit Umum Daerah Batara Guru

AI summary Read the abstract

This Indonesian study assessed microplastic contamination in wastewater from a regional hospital, investigating whether the hospital's biological treatment system was adequate to prevent microplastics from entering surrounding water bodies. Hospital wastewater is a recognized but understudied source of microplastic pollution, particularly from disposable plastic medical equipment and supplies.

Characteristics of Microplastics in a Hospital Wastewater Treatment Plant Effluent and Hazard Risk Assessment

AI summary Read the abstract

A characterization study of a hospital wastewater treatment plant found fiber-shaped polypropylene as the dominant microplastic type, with polyethylene terephthalate, polyamide, and polyethylene posing elevated ecological hazard risk compared to other wastewater sources. Hospitals are an overlooked but significant source of MP-laden effluent entering waterways, carrying plastics from medical devices and disposable equipment with higher hazard profiles.

Hospital wastewater as a significant source of microplastics in Northern Iran: Abundance, polymer composition, and environmental risk assessment.

AI summary Read the abstract

Researchers tested wastewater from a hospital treatment plant in northern Iran, finding treatment removed about 93% of microplastic particles. Remaining plastic was mostly tiny fibers, including PVC and polyurethane, and risk calculations placed the wastewater at the highest hazard level, largely due to PVC.

Identifikasi Kelimpahan Dan Karakteristik Mikroplastik Pada Instalasi Pengolahan Air Limbah Komunal Kota Denpasar

AI summary Read the abstract

Researchers assessed the abundance and characteristics of microplastics at a communal wastewater treatment plant in Denpasar, Indonesia, sampling from four locations including pump stations and inlet/outlet points. The study aimed to quantify how effectively the facility removed microplastics originating from laundry water, cosmetics, and domestic wastewater.

Identifikasi Mikroplastik pada Air Sungai Akibat Limbah Pabrik Daur Ulang Plastik di Sidoarjo dan Mojokerto

AI summary Read the abstract

This Indonesian study identified microplastic contamination in river water near plastic recycling factories in Sidoarjo and Mojokerto. The findings show that plastic recycling facilities can themselves be sources of microplastic pollution, releasing particles into nearby waterways during processing.

Abundance and Characteristics of Microplastics at the Karangpilang III Water Treatment Plant, Surabaya City

AI summary Read the abstract

This Indonesian-language study measured the abundance and characteristics of microplastics at a drinking water treatment plant in Surabaya, Indonesia. Researchers found microplastics were present in both raw and treated water, raising questions about the effectiveness of standard treatment processes at removing these particles.
