Summary

This study applied the DPSIR (Drivers-Pressures-State-Impact-Response) causal model to assess greenhouse gas emissions from human energy consumption, identifying carbon capture and storage (CCS) and CO2 utilization technologies -- particularly photocatalysis and CO2 hydrogenation -- as key technological responses for reducing atmospheric carbon dioxide.

Investigating the Influence of Renewable Energy Use and Innovative Investments in the Transportation Sector on Environmental Sustainability—A Nonlinear Assessment

Researchers used advanced statistical methods to examine how renewable energy adoption and innovative investments in the transportation sector affect environmental sustainability in France from 1995 to 2020. They found that increasing renewable energy use significantly reduced carbon dioxide emissions, while certain transport sector investments had mixed environmental effects. The study provides evidence that transitioning to renewable energy sources is a key driver of improved environmental outcomes.

Chains of Social Sustainability and the Potential of the DPSIR Framework

Researchers examined whether the Driver-Pressure-State-Impact-Response (DPSIR) framework, established for environmental sustainability analysis, can be usefully extended to structure social sustainability issues. Using child labour as a case study, they demonstrate that the DPSIR framework can distinguish drivers, pressures, states, impacts, and responses in social problem domains.

A Study of the Drivers of Decarbonization in the Plastics Supply Chain in the Post-COVID-19 Era

Researchers identified and analyzed the drivers of decarbonization in the plastics supply chain from a corporate microlevel perspective in the post-COVID-19 era, using expert validation of 21 subfactors within four primary categories followed by Gray-DEMATEL causal analysis. The method revealed key causal relationships and leverage points for reducing carbon emissions across the plastics industry supply chain as part of green supply chain management objectives.
