Plastics have become an indispensable part of our lives.Plastic waste management and disposal practices have harmed our world by contaminating the land and water.Moreover, plastics do not biodegrade and remain in the environment for a longer period of time.The emergence of microplastics (plastic particles <5mm) is a growing problem with plastics remaining in the environment.Because of their tiny size, these microplastics are easily able to cause pollution.Such microparticles are widely present, which negatively impacts the ecology and the life that resides there.This review, focused on consolidates existing research on the presence and impact of microplastics in pond water, summarizing findings from various studies to provide a comprehensive understanding of this environmental issue.It highlights sources, detection methods, ecological and health impacts.Additionally it also concentrated on sustainable approaches to keep pond water plastic-free for future generations and a healthy environment for aquatic plants and animals, as well as mitigation and management techniques to combat microplastic contamination.
