Raw amplicon sequencing data for: Interactive effects of nitrogen deposition and microplastics on rhizosphere soil microbial communities in Populus kangdingensis
Summary
Scientists tested how microplastics (from plastic pollution) and nitrogen pollution together affect the soil bacteria and fungi living around poplar tree roots. This is a raw dataset release, not a full results paper, so it doesn't yet tell us the actual findings, but it's building the groundwork for understanding how these two common environmental pollutants might combine to disrupt soil ecosystems that plants, and ultimately our food and environment, depend on.
Raw 16S rRNA (V4–V5) and ITS1 amplicon sequencing data from a factorial pot experiment testing the interactive effects of polyethylene and polylactic acid microplastics and nitrogen deposition on the rhizosphere microbiome of Populus kangdingensis. Twenty-seven samples (3 microplastic treatments × 3 nitrogen levels × 3 replicates). Sequenced on Illumina.
