Single-screw Extruder Upgrad for Polyethylene Recycling Kharkiv
Summary
Researchers developed upgraded design solutions for a single-screw extruder used in secondary polyethylene recycling, improving the loading hopper geometry and screw parameters to increase processing efficiency and capacity for large volumes of plastic waste, contributing to more sustainable polymer recycling in Ukraine's chemical industry.
The purpose of this work is to improve the technological equipment for processing secondary polyethylene in order to improve its efficiency and ability to process large volumes of polyethylene waste.Constructive solutions of single-screw extruder elements have been developed on the basis of technological and structural calculations. The object of research is a single-screw extruder for processing secondary polyethylene with different levels of destruction of macromolecules, and the object of research is the design elements of a single-screw extruder for processing secondary polyethylene. To achieve the goal, an analysis of secondary polyethylene processing methods, existing models of extruders and features of their designs was carried out.The main research methods were the analysis of technical literature, research and patents related to extruders and their designs. On the basis of the selection, systematization and analysis of scientific and technical literature and protective documents (patents), a new technical solution was proposed, which consists in the development of new constructive solutions for single-screw extruder elements, namely, a new version of the hopper design and a change in the geometric parameters of the screw in the loading area. The design of the loading hopper was improved, the technological and strength calculations of the single-screw extruder were performed, and the geometry of its screw was selected.Economic calculations are also performed in the work.Research has confirmed that improving the design of a single-screw extruder and its elements can significantly increase their efficiency and ability to process large volumes of secondary polyethylene. This, in turn, will contribute to a more sustainable development of the chemical industry of Ukraine, will allow to reduce the cost of polymer materials obtained using secondary polythylene and reduce the burden on the environment.
