Mikroplastik Kirliliği Eğitiminin Önlisans Öğrencilerinin Farkındalık Seviyesine Etkisi
AI summary Read the abstract
Researchers assessed the effect of a microplastic pollution education intervention on 106 associate-degree health students in Turkey using a pre-test/post-test design, finding statistically significant increases in microplastic pollution awareness across all demographic groups including age, gender, program, and year of study.

A survey of 200 Turkish university students found generally high awareness of microplastic risks to environment and human health, but awareness varied significantly by faculty and academic performance, and environmental coursework had limited effect on attitudes. This matters for microplastic pollution research because behavioral change is essential for reducing plastic pollution, and the findings suggest awareness campaigns must shift toward action-oriented educational models rather than simple information transfer.

A structured awareness training program on microplastic pollution — including microscopic analysis of fibers released from laundry dryers — produced a statistically significant increase in microplastic awareness among gifted high school students. Awareness gains were strongest for impacts on living organisms and human health, while understanding of prevention strategies lagged, highlighting gaps in pollution education curricula.
The effect of environmental health education on microplastic pollution awareness
AI summary Read the abstract
This study found that environmental health education significantly increased students' awareness of microplastic pollution. The results suggest that incorporating microplastic-related topics into school curricula could help young people understand the health and environmental risks of plastic pollution. Raising awareness early is an important step toward reducing microplastic exposure at the individual and community level.

This Turkish survey study assessed microplastic pollution awareness among 294 biology teachers in Konya, finding that teachers had 'very good' overall awareness of microplastic pollution. Significant differences in awareness were found based on marital status, education level, and the faculty or department from which teachers graduated, with demographic variables differentially affecting awareness of microplastics' effects on living organisms versus human health.
An examination of knowledge, thoughts, and attitudes toward microplastics in the context of science teacher education

A study of 142 Turkish science teacher candidates found that while most could define microplastics by size, few gave scientifically accurate definitions, and knowledge alone did not translate into waste-reduction behaviors. Improving how future science educators understand microplastic pollution is essential, as they will shape public literacy on an issue with growing implications for environmental and human health.
