Relatos de Microplásticos em Três Espécies de Peixes Comerciais no Vale do Juruá

AI summary Read the abstract

Researchers documented microplastic occurrence in the digestive systems of three commercially important fish species — Mylossoma duriventre, Prochilodus nigricans, and Triportheus angalatus — from the Juruá Valley in the Brazilian Amazon, reporting 21 total fragments and the first recorded microplastic detection in Triportheus angalatus.

AI summary Read the abstract

Researchers analyzed the digestive tracts of mullet (Mugil liza) from a Brazilian estuary for the presence of plastic residues, finding ingested plastic fragments in a substantial proportion of examined fish. The study links plastic ingestion rates to proximity of fishing sites to urban waste inputs and adds to evidence of widespread plastic ingestion in commercially important fish species.
