Existem Microplásticos Na Albufeira Do Divor? Elaboração De Um Plano De Amostragem

AI summary Read the abstract

Researchers designed a monitoring and sampling plan to detect microplastics in the margins of the Divor Reservoir in Portugal, finding significant microplastic accumulation, particularly near sites used for recreational, agricultural, and high-access activities.

Stanovení obsahu plastů v mořských a jezerních sedimentech

AI summary Read the abstract

This study investigated the effect of polystyrene microplastics on the bioavailability and toxicity of co-occurring heavy metals in marine sediments, finding that plastic particles altered metal partitioning and modified toxicity in benthic invertebrates. The interactions were complex and context-dependent, suggesting standard single-contaminant risk assessments may underestimate combined hazards.

Researchers compared two extraction protocols — manual sorting and flotation/filtration — for quantifying microfibers in beach sediments from four sheltered beaches in Guanabara Bay, Brazil, finding the flotation/filtration method more than ten times more efficient (1,054 vs. 94 particles detected) and more consistent across sites and seasons.

Researchers conducted a systematic review of analytical methods used to quantify microplastics in Brazilian aquatic environments, finding that most studies rely on visual methods that can count but not chemically characterize particles, and that the absence of a standardized national methodology severely limits cross-study comparisons.

Caracterização Dos Microplásticos Encontrados Na Zona Entremarés Do Parque Nacional De Jericoacoara, Ceará, Brasil

AI summary Read the abstract

Researchers characterized microplastics in beach sediment and four benthic species (bivalves, gastropods, barnacles) in the intertidal zone of Jericoacoara National Park, Brazil, finding fragments, fibers, and pellets from consumer products, with fragments most abundant and over 53% of particles smaller than 1 mm.

AI summary Read the abstract

Researchers quantified and chemically characterized microplastics in the bivalve Scrobicularia plana from three sites on the western Andalusian coast of Spain using micro-FTIR spectroscopy, identifying eight polymer types — with PTFE and copolymers most frequent — and concentrations ranging from 8 to 503 MPs per gram dry weight.
