Gastronomi̇ Alaninda Temel Bazi Besi̇nlerde Mi̇kroplasti̇k Tehli̇kesi̇ Ve Gida Güvenli̇ği̇

AI summary Read the abstract

Researchers reviewed microplastic contamination in key gastronomy-sector food staples in Turkey — including drinking water, seafood, honey, sugar, and salt — finding microplastics present across all categories and highlighting food safety risks throughout plastic use in food preparation, packaging, distribution, and consumption.

AI summary Read the abstract

Researchers reviewed global plastic pollution in the food industry, examining how petroleum-based food packaging—which represents 50% of single-use plastics—fragments into micro- and nanoplastics that enter the food chain, with implications for human health including endocrine disruption and toxic exposure through consumption.

Impact of microplastics on food safety and human health

AI summary Read the abstract

Tiny plastic particles are turning up in tap water, seafood, table salt, and packaged foods, and this research review pulls together existing studies to show how they get into what we eat. Once inside the body, microplastics may trigger inflammation, cell damage, and hormone disruption, though scientists still don't fully know the long-term consequences. The takeaway: this is a growing health concern worth watching, and it highlights the need for stronger food safety rules and more research—not an immediate reason to panic.
