This study analyzed marine litter composition and abundance on seafloor Marine Protected Areas in São Paulo, Brazil, collected by fishers through a participatory monitoring program over 15 months. The research assessed how payment for environmental services (PES) mechanisms can incentivize fisher participation in seafloor debris monitoring and environmental education within MPAs.
