Penilaian Risiko Kesehatan Akibat Pajanan Mikroplastik Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) dalam Air Minum Isi Ulang di Kelurahan Tamangapa, Makassar Menggunakan Metode Environmental Health Risk Assessment
AI summary Read the abstract
This study characterized microplastic distribution in Arctic and subarctic marine sediments, analyzing samples from sea floor cores to document plastic particle abundance and types. The findings reveal pervasive microplastic contamination in Arctic deep sea sediments, reflecting both local and long-range transport sources.

Researchers estimated annual microplastic exposure through drinking water among 304 employees at a company in Indonesia, finding that single-use bottled water delivered the highest exposure — approximately 1.1 million particles per person per year — about 51 times more than gallon-jug water and 8 times more than tap water from the municipal supply.
Drinking Water Contamination by Microplastics in India: Comparative Analysis, Risk Assessment, and Global Implications

A systematic review of Indian drinking water studies found microplastic concentrations up to 10,000 MPs per liter in bottled water and up to 60 MPs per liter in tap water, with children consuming up to 0.291 MPs per kilogram per day from bottled water alone. The findings highlight significant drinking water contamination across India and project long-term health risks including endocrine disruption, bioaccumulation, and cytotoxicity from chronic low-level microplastic ingestion.
