Logística Inversa y medioambiente Sistema de recolección PET

Re-Unir (International University of La Rioja) 2018
Jordy Stevan Varela-Donado

Summary

This study proposes a reverse logistics business model for collecting and recycling PET plastic bottles, addressing the growing environmental problem of plastic waste including potential microplastic formation. The framework aims to make PET recovery economically viable while reducing plastic pollution burdens on the biosphere.

Polymers

The accelerated advances of modern life, unthinkable without plastics (we are in the "era of plastics"), have paid an expensive cost because of the invasion of various types of plastics, but especially because of plastic known as PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate), raw material for the packing process of soft drinks and bottled water. In the context of the socalled Reverse Logistics, we propose a business path to respond, in a productive and profitable manner, to the challenge placed by the invasion of PET in Colombia, especially in Bogotá. Starting from the 6R methodology (from wich we take only 3R): Reduce, Recycle, Reuse, we arrive at the novel proposal of a “Smart PET Containers” system, strategically placed in the city of Bogotá, which produces positive impacts both in the industry and in society.
