This Korean survey assessed public awareness and attitudes toward microplastics, examining how well-informed the general public is about microplastic pollution and its potential health impacts. Public awareness studies help identify knowledge gaps and communication needs for effective microplastic risk communication.
The purpose of this study is to provide basic data on plastic waste problem. The survey of awareness on microplastic for students of Daegu Catholic University. The survey was conducted from November 19 to 22, 2018, and a total of 125 questionnaires were analyzed. Students of DCU was statistically significant gender difference in the level of attitude and interest. Attitude and Interest level of women was higher than that of men. Knowledge of microplastic average 5.13 points, above the mid-point. A high level of knowledge about microplastic is an understanding of the need for regulation of plastics to reduce the frequency of plastic cups, and to facilitate changes in behavior so that tumblers or mugs can be used.
