Tiny plastic particles found in our food, water, and air don't just pose a risk on their own, they can also act like sponges, soaking up other harmful chemicals and carrying them into our bodies. This review paper argues that scientists need to study microplastics and the toxic substances they carry together, rather than separately, to truly understand the health risks. Until that research is done, we won't have a full picture of how these combined exposures might affect things like hormone function, organ health, or disease risk over time.
