Mikroplastik w środowisku naturalnym
Summary
This Polish-language review covers microplastic pollution in natural environments, explaining the sources, spread, and risks of microplastics to ecosystems and human health. The paper highlights microplastics as a serious emerging environmental hazard.

This Polish-language overview describes the global threat posed by micro- and nanoplastics, explaining how these particles accumulate in ecosystems, their biological effects on organisms from microbes to humans, and the urgency of developing effective regulatory and remediation responses.
Nano- i mikroplastik – zanieczyszczenia XXI wieku
This Polish-language review summarizes the emergence of microplastics and nanoplastics as 21st-century environmental pollutants, explaining how plastics break down through physical, chemical, and biological processes into tiny particles found in air, water, soil, and living organisms including humans. The article highlights documented and potential adverse health effects and frames micro/nanoplastics as a new class of xenobiotic environmental contaminants requiring urgent attention.
Microplastics in Polish freshwater ecosystems: Current state of knowledge and research gaps
This review compiled and compared data on microplastic contamination in Polish freshwater ecosystems, analysing 65 aquatic systems (47 lakes, 13 rivers, and others) based on studies published up to 2024 to identify the current state of knowledge and research gaps.
Mikroplastik - Źródła, Techniki Separacji I Identyfikacji
This review (in Polish) covers microplastics — their sources in the environment and the analytical techniques used to separate and identify them. The paper provides an overview of sampling, extraction, and spectroscopic identification methods relevant to environmental monitoring of microplastic pollution.
Microplastics in Environment and Effects on Biota
This review summarizes how microplastics form from plastic breakdown in nature or are manufactured at small sizes, spread across ecosystems, and harm organisms from microbes to larger animals. It emphasizes that poor plastic waste management is driving a growing global pollution crisis with broad ecological consequences.
