Summary

This Indonesian philosophical-scientific article performed an ontological analysis of microplastics in the human body, examining what their pervasive accumulation means for human existence and biological health. The work integrated philosophical frameworks with scientific evidence on microplastic exposure pathways and health risks.

ABSTRACTThis article aims to provide an ontological analysis ofmicroplastics in the human body and their implications for thenature of human existence and modern biological health. Aliterature review was conducted using recent national andinternational scientific articles that discuss the sources andcharacteristics of microplastics, exposure pathways, detectionof microplastics in human biological samples, toxicologicalimpacts, and related ethical and philosophical analyses. Thereview shows that microplastics are detected in several bodycompartments such as blood, placenta, stool, and breast milk, indicating chronic and hardly avoidable exposure. Biologically, microplastics may induce oxidative stress, inflammation, gutmicrobiota imbalance, and cellular dysfunction that cancontribute to chronic diseases. Ontologically, these findingsblur the boundary between the biological body andtechnological artefacts, as the modern human body becomesa material “archive” of plastic civilization. Ethically, microplastic pollution raises issues of environmental andintergenerational justice, especially for vulnerable groupssuch as fetuses, infants, and low income communities. Thearticle highlights the need for a multidisciplinary responsethrough stronger research, regulations to reduce single useplastics, development of a circular economy, and changes inconsumption patterns in order to better protect humanexistence and biological health. Keywords: microplastics; human body; biological health;modern existence; environmental ethics

Analisis Ontologis Mikroplastik Dalam Tubuh Manusia Sebagai Ancaman Terhadap Hakikat Eksistensi Dan Kesehatan Biologis Modern

This literature review applied ontological analysis to examine the implications of microplastic accumulation in the human body for modern biological health. The authors synthesized Indonesian and international research on exposure pathways and health effects to argue that microplastics represent a fundamental threat to human biological integrity.

Mikroplastik sebagai Kontaminan Anyar dan Efek Toksiknya terhadap Kesehatan

This Indonesian review examines microplastic definition, formation, accumulation, toxicokinetics, and potential pathological effects in humans, with emphasis on biomolecular mechanisms. The authors call for Indonesian healthcare personnel to increase their knowledge of microplastic exposure routes and health implications given Indonesia's status as a major plastic-producing maritime nation.

Défragmenter notre personnalité par le dialogue art-science : pour une co-énonciation écologique, transformative et une éthique joyeuse, allant de soi

This paper is not about microplastics; it is a French-language philosophical essay on personal ecological ethics, proposing that individuals can develop a spontaneous, joyful environmental ethic through inner harmony achieved by integrating scientific and artistic sensibilities.
