Efeito Da Salinidade Sobre O Crescimento Do Tomate Cereja
Summary
Not relevant to microplastics research; the title refers to a study on the effect of salinity on cherry tomato growth (in Portuguese), though the abstract has been incorrectly populated with a microplastics health review — this is a data error in the record.
Microplastics (MPs) are materials derived from plastics with a size smaller than 5 mm.Environmental contamination with these materials has been growing significantly in the last century due to the substantial use of materials derived from synthetic polymers, harming several ecosystems on a global scale. The objective of this review was to list the main damages caused by microplastics in human health, highlighting the main organic systems. As a methodology, a narrative literature review was used with articles from the last five years.Human exposure to microplastics has been found to occur through ingestion of contaminated food and water and inhalation of dust.Studies show that exposure to these materials is significantly harmful to the body, causing generalized pro-inflammatory reactions, dysbiosis and sterility.Although the damage to the organism is undeniable, research with humans remains with a reduced sample number, restricting the results to studies in mice.

Desenvolvimento De Pitaya Submetida a Estresse Abiótico Em Regiões Semiáridas
Not relevant to microplastics research; the title refers to a study on pitaya (dragon fruit) growth under abiotic stress in semiarid regions (in Portuguese), though the abstract has been incorrectly populated with a microplastics health review — this is a data error in the record.
Effects of microplastics polluted soil on the growth of Solanum lycopersicum L.
This study tested how microplastic-contaminated soil affects tomato plant growth, finding that higher concentrations of plastic particles in soil reduced plant height, root development, and overall crop health. The results suggest that microplastic pollution in farmland could reduce food crop yields and potentially affect the quality of the produce we eat.
Sustainable Agriculture through Small-Scale Hydroponics and Enhanced Nutrient Management
Despite its title referencing hydroponics and nutrient management, this paper studies the growth of tomato plants under different nutrient solution formulations in a hydroponic system — not microplastic pollution. It identifies the best nutrient mix for maximizing plant yield and is not relevant to microplastics or human health.
Geração De Resíduos E Sua Aplicação Na Construção Civil
Not relevant to microplastics research; the title refers to a study on waste generation and its use in construction (in Portuguese), though the abstract has been incorrectly populated with a microplastics health review — this is a data error in the record.
MICROPLÁSTICOS Y NANOPLÁSTICOS: UNA REVISIÓN SISTEMÁTICA DE SU IMPACTO EN EL CRECIMIENTO DE TOMATE (Solanum lycopersicum)
This systematic review analysed published studies on the effects of synthetic microplastics and nanoplastics on tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) growth, examining how polymer type, particle size, concentration, and growth medium modulate phytotoxicity. The review found that MP and NP exposure consistently impaired biomass accumulation, plant height, flower and fruit production, and root and shoot length, with higher concentrations and smaller particle sizes generally producing the most pronounced negative effects.
