Svrha ovog završnog rada je na jednostavan način objasniti i približiti pojam mikroplastike. Mikroplastika je nešto što nas okružuje u svakodnevnom životu obzirom da koristimo velike količine plastičnih proizvoda. Međutim, može se pronaći i u hrani. Značajniji polimeri otkriveni u hrani su poli(metil metakrilat), polipropilen, polistiren, polietilen, polietilen tereftalat. Rad ukratko objašnjava proizvodnju, neke karakteristike i uporabu spomenutih polimera te mogućnost njihovog dolaska u hranu. Trenutno postoji jako mali broj istraživanja i informacija o tome utječe li konzumacija takve hrane negativno na ljudsko zdravlje.
