Screening for microplastics in gastrointestinal tract of mullet (Chelon auratus) from the Northern Adriatic

Mikroplastika (MP) obuhvaća čestice plastike veličine od 0,02 µm do 200 µm i predstavlja značajan ekološki problem. MP potječe iz primarnih izvora, poput kozmetičkih proizvoda, te sekundarnih izvora usitnjavanja veće plastike. Zbog svoje nereciklaže i otpornosti na razgradnju, MP se akumulira u okolišu, ugrožavajući morske organizme i ljude kroz prehrambeni lanac. Istraživanje provedeno na ciplima zlatarima (Chelon auratus Risso, 1810) iz Medulinskog zaljeva, dijela ekološke mreže NATURA 2000, analiziralo je prisustvo MP u probavnom traktu ovih riba. Medulinski zaljev poznat je po bogatim bioraznolikim staništima, a uzorci su prikupljeni tijekom ribolovnih aktivnosti od ožujka 2020. do svibnja 2021. godine. Analiza je obuhvatila digestiju probavnog trakta i mikroskopsku identifikaciju MP. U 31 analiziranoj jedinki cipla zlatara utvrđena su sveukupno 123 filamenata MP, pri čemu su najzastupljeniji bili crni i plavi filamenti. Prisutnost MP u probavnom traktu ovih riba može ukazivati na opterećenje ekosustava Medulinskog zaljeva plastičnim otpadom.Unatoč izazovima u laboratorijskim uvjetima, metoda analize pokazala se učinkovitom za detekciju MP. Cipal zlatar stoga bi mogao poslužiti kao indikatorski organizam za praćenje zagađenja mora plastikom.
