Dataset and Source Code for: Extreme heat lowers the toxicity threshold of nanoplastics across cellular and ecological scales
Summary
This dataset release supports research suggesting that as temperatures climb due to climate change, tiny plastic particles (nanoplastics) may become more harmful to cells and ecosystems than previously thought, essentially, heat can lower the bar for how much plastic exposure causes damage. This matters because it hints that climate change and plastic pollution may worsen each other's health effects, though this specific release is the data and code behind the study rather than the full findings themselves.
This deposit contains the supporting numerical datasets, uncropped immunoblot source data, and custom analytical scripts for multi-omics integration, TTSI formulation, Bayesian MCMC sampling, and CMIP6 geospatial downscaling associated with the manuscript "TTSI-Climate-Nanoplastic". Methods Summary: Normality and homoscedasticity were tested (Shapiro-Wilk/Levene). Two-way ANOVA defined synergy, with t-tests, one-way ANOVA/Tukey, or Kruskal-Wallis/Dunn as appropriate. Multiple comparisons were FDR corrected (Benjamini-Hochberg; P < 0.01). Experiments were blinded and replicated ≥ 3 times. Analysis used R v4.6.0 and Prism v9.0. Complete statistical details are provided in the SI Appendix. External data: Raw sequencing data and processed count matrices for single-cell and spatial transcriptomics are available at NCBI GEO (GSE344086). Spatial metabolomics datasets are available at MetaboLights (MTBLS15251). Access for reviewers: This Zenodo entry is under restricted access for peer review. Editors and reviewers may access these materials anonymously via the private link generated for this deposit. All repositories will be made public upon manuscript acceptance, and the codebase will be mirrored on GitHub.
