Summary

This study surveyed offshore fishermen in a coastal town in the Philippines to see how much they know about microplastics—tiny plastic bits that pollute oceans and can end up in the seafood we eat—and how risky they think this contamination is. Understanding what fishing communities know (or don't know) matters because these are the people catching our seafood, and their awareness can shape whether safer practices and better public health messaging get adopted.
