Dataset of Awareness and Risk Perception toward Microplastic Contamination among Offshore Fisherfolk in Santo Tomas, La Union

Summary

This study surveyed offshore fishermen in the Philippines to see how much they know about microplastic pollution (tiny plastic bits that can end up in seafood) and how risky they think it is. Understanding what fishing communities know—or don't know—matters because these workers are often the first link in the seafood supply chain, and their awareness can influence practices that affect the plastic contamination levels in the fish and shellfish people eat. This dataset itself doesn't tell us about health effects, but it lays the groundwork for figuring out where education efforts are needed most.
