Las Nuevas Herramientas Tecnológicas Mezcladas con la Experimentación como Aliadas en el Desarrollo de la Competencia de Responsabilidad Social
Summary
Researchers developed EPBRAE — a pedagogical strategy combining augmented reality with experiential learning — to teach fifth-grade students about plastic waste and social responsibility, finding that 3D content and hands-on activities significantly boosted engagement and transformed environmental awareness into meaningful behavioral reflection.
The pedagogical strategy based on Augmented Reality (AR) and Experiential Learning (EL), called EPBRAE, was developed through an exploratory research approach with a mixed-methods design, with the aim of strengthening the social responsibility competence in response to environmental issues related to plastic waste generated during the school day. Through a didactic sequence using 3D content, the results showed a positive level of motivation among students (fifth-grade children from the Carlos Restrepo Araujo Educational Institution), particularly in their participation in classroom activities. Furthermore, it can be concluded that traditional education practices were successfully modified within the teaching process, as the implementation of the EPBRAE pedagogical strategy enabled the effective appropriation of environmental learning, transforming it through experimentation into meaningful learning. This, in turn, encouraged students to reflect on their attitudes and behaviors toward the planet and plastic waste pollution.
