Dietary bisphenols exposure as an influencing factor of body mass index
Summary
This study investigates whether dietary exposure to bisphenols—chemicals found in plastic food packaging and containers—is associated with changes in body mass index. Bisphenols are endocrine-disrupting compounds that may interfere with metabolism and fat storage. The findings contribute to understanding how everyday plastic-related chemical exposures may influence obesity-related health outcomes.
High BPA levels from meat and eggs were positively associated with overweight and obesity in females. The dietary intake of BPA in the schoolchildren in the present study was much higher than the acceptable daily intake established by EFSA for the last year.
