Microscopy Research and Technique 2025
E. D. Monday

Summary

A survey in Kaduna North, Nigeria found that 89.2% of residents lacked knowledge of proper plastic waste management, and the study proposed a six-element sustainable management model alongside recommended recycling sites. This is relevant to microplastic pollution research because inadequate plastic waste management in urban areas directly drives the fragmentation and environmental dispersal of plastics into microplastic particles.

Plastic waste generation and management have been a serious environmental issue, which could distort the environmental harmony of a community. Kaduna North LGA has suffered its own share of the distortion. The study is poised to investigate Plastic Waste Pollution Awareness and Sustainable Management Model in Kaduna North LGA, Kaduna, Nigeria, using appropriate standard procedures, including a structured questionnaire. A total of 344 respondents were interviewed on the generation, management, awareness and the environmental impact of plastic wastes in the area.
