Summary

This German subproject of the JPI-Oceans WEATHER-MIC research program investigated how weathering changes the toxicity and transport of microplastics in the marine environment. Weathered microplastics have different surface properties than pristine ones, which affects how they interact with organisms and carry chemical pollutants.
