The Indiscriminate Use of Plastic Contaminates the Environment and Violates the Rights of Nature
Original title: El Uso Indiscriminado Del Plástico Contamina El Medio Ambiente Y Vulnera Los Derechos De La Naturaleza
Summary
This Spanish-language legal and environmental analysis from Ecuador examines how the indiscriminate use of plastic violates the constitutional Rights of Nature framework. It argues that existing environmental laws in Ecuador are insufficient to address the scale of plastic pollution and calls for stronger legal protections.
present research work developed under the title The indiscriminate use of plastic pollutes the environment and violates the Rights of Nature, arises from the social problem of the indiscriminate use of plastic and how it directly attacks nature, and also the existence of the legal void in our Ecuadorian legislation. The excessive use of plastic has caused a great social problem. It has not only had an impact on soils and waters, but many species are in danger of extinction since the plastics and microplastics existing in their habitat confuse them and end up being mistakenly ingested. It is presumed that by the year 2030 there will be more plastic in the sea than marine species. As I mentioned earlier, it not only affects soils and waters, unfortunately humans are also ingesting microplastics in water and in food.
