Microplastics in soil affect seed germination velocity and synchrony
Summary
This study investigated how microplastics of different shapes and polymer types in soil affect the germination velocity and synchrony of Daucus carota seeds, measuring germination outcomes over a 49-day period.
Microplastic effects on seed germination of Daucus carota. Shapes ( fibers, films, foams, and fragments) each one made of 3 different polymer types. Germination was measured on days 7, 14, 21, 28, 35, 42, and 49. Germination parameteres were calculated using Germinationmetrics (Percentage of final germination, velocity, and synchrony).
