Summary

Researchers examined the bacterial and micro-eukaryotic communities associated with phenolic foam microplastics added at different concentrations to agricultural soils, using 16S and 18S rRNA gene sequencing. The study assessed how this foam-derived plastic pollution alters soil microbial community composition.

In this study, we cultured cherry radish and lettuce, and added different concentration phenolic foam associated-microplastics (PF-MPs) to soils on October and December 2020, soils come from Houxi Town, Xiamen, Fujian province of China.Bacterial 16S rRNA genes, micro-eukaryotic 18S rRNA were amplified using the primer set of 338F/806R, 528F/706R, respectively. The thermal profiles for target genes were performed as our previous study 35. The PCR amplicons were sequenced on an Illumina MiSeq PE250 platform (Magigene Biotechnology Co.,LTD. Guangzhou,China) after purified and concentrated.
