This Indonesian-language paper describes a PID-based PLC temperature control system for the extruder component of a small-scale plastic injection molding machine used for educational purposes. It is a mechatronics engineering paper unrelated to environmental microplastic contamination.

Modeling and Simulation of Modular Corotating Twin Screw Extruder for Processing Polymers

AI summary Read the abstract

This paper is actually about industrial machinery, not human health directly—it's engineering research on twin-screw extruders, the machines used to melt and mix plastics (and some foods) during manufacturing. The researchers built a computer model to predict temperature and pressure changes as materials move through these machines, which could help manufacturers fine-tune processing conditions for better quality control and efficiency. While this doesn't directly address microplastics or health risks, better-controlled processing could theoretically reduce material degradation and byproduct formation during plastic and food production.
