La contaminación por microplásticos (MP) afecta a los ecosistemas terrestres, acuáticos y aéreos. Existen pocos estudios que han analizado la presencia de MP en aguas subterráneas. El acuífero kársticode la península de Yucatán (AKPY) es la principal fuente de abastecimientode agua de la región. Por lo cual, el objetivo del estudio fue determinarla presencia de MP en AKPY. Se tomaron muestras de agua de cenotes y pozos, se filtraron y el material retenido en el filtro se observó en un microscopio estereoscópico para identificar y clasificar los MP. Las formas de MP observadas fueron las fibras (94%) y el color más abundante fue blanco (51%). La concentración máxima fue de 936 partículas L−1 y la mínima de 10 partículas L−1. Se encontró presencia de MP en todas las muestras de agua subterránea, por lo que es imprescindible determinar lasfuentes para mitigar su presencia en AKPY
