Summary
This study investigated whether differential scanning calorimetry calibrated with pristine PET can reliably identify and quantify aged, environmentally weathered PET microplastic particles. Because environmental microplastics undergo physical and chemical changes over time, developing analytical methods that accurately characterize aged particles is critical for realistic exposure assessments and pollution monitoring.
