Summary
This paper reviewed circular economy alternatives for managing agricultural plastics — including biodegradable materials, recycling strategies, and policy frameworks — to reduce the terrestrial and marine microplastic pollution they generate. Transitioning to circular agricultural plastic management is critical for stemming one of the largest and most diffuse terrestrial sources of microplastic contamination threatening soil and food safety.
