Kajian Kelimpahan Mikroplastik Pada Berbagai Tekstur Sedimen Di Kawasan Pantai Wisata Mangrove Desa Labuhan
Summary
Researchers investigated microplastic abundance across different sediment textures in a mangrove tourist beach in Labuhan village, finding concentrations of 9-168 particles per 50 litres in water and 17-36 particles per 50 grams of dry sediment, with fiber shapes dominating and polypropylene as the most common polymer type.
Kata Kunci : Kelimpahan Mikroplastik, Tekstur Sedimen, Mangrove Abstract Plastic waste is a big problem in the world that causes microplastics in the sky environment and causes several impacts on the aquatic environment. Microplastics that enter the waters will enter the water body and will eventually settle in the sediment. The mangrove forest area is a place to live for the biota found in the area. So it is necessary to study microplastics in the Mangrove Forest Tourism Beach area ofLabuhan Village with the aim of knowing the characteristics of sediment, knowing the shape and shape of microplastics, and knowing the relationship between sediment texture and microplastics. Sampling was carried out in September-November 2021, sampling was carried out at 5 stations and 3 points at each station. The parameters analyzed were the texture of the sediment, the shape of the microplastic, and the relationship between the microplastic and the texture of the sediment. The results obtained are that the mangrove area has a characteristic texture of loamy mud sediments. The abundance of microplastics in water was 9-168 particles/50 L, while the number of microplastics found in sediments was 17-36 particles/50 grams of dry sediment. The forms of microplastics found were fiber, fragments, and films. The form of fiber is the most dominant form in water and sediment. Keywords : Microplastic Abundance, Sediment Texture, Mangrove

Analisis Bentuk Mikroplastik pada Sedimen Pantai Mangrove di Kalimantan Barat
Microplastic shapes and compositions were analyzed in mangrove beach sediments in West Kalimantan, Indonesia, finding that 80% of plastic waste entering the coast eventually settles and degrades into microplastic particles concentrated in vegetated mangrove environments.
Identifikasi dan Kepadatan Mikroplastik pada Sedimen di Mempawah Mangrove Park (MMP) Kabupaten Mempawah, Kalimantan Barat
Researchers identified four types of microplastics — fibers, fragments, films, and microbeads — in sediments at a mangrove park in West Kalimantan, Indonesia. Microplastic density was highest in the shallowest sediment layer, suggesting recent deposition from surrounding activities.
Spatial Distribution of Microplastics Abundance Along Selected Beaches in Kelantan, Malaysia
Researchers surveyed ten beaches along the Kelantan coast in Malaysia and found over 1,600 microplastic particles, averaging about 5.4 pieces per gram of sediment, with fragments being the most common type. PVC, polypropylene, and polystyrene were the dominant polymer types, and intertidal zones were the most heavily contaminated areas. The study provides important baseline data on microplastic pollution patterns along these Malaysian coastlines, which can help guide future cleanup and prevention efforts.
Depth Profiles of Microplastic in Sediment Cores in the Mangrove Area of Kuala Gula Mangrove, Malaysia
Researchers profiled microplastic abundance with depth in sediment cores from the Kuala Gula Mangrove in Malaysia, finding 25-130 items per kg dry weight and highest concentrations near rivermouth sites, demonstrating that mangrove sediments are significant microplastic sinks.
