AI summary Read the abstract
Researchers assessed microplastic abundance on three beaches in Las Tablas district, Panama during August and October 2022, finding densities of 9.2 to 37.2 items/m2 with fragments and fibers as the dominant morphotypes, representing baseline data for this previously unstudied Pacific coastline.

Researchers surveyed microplastic contamination on four beaches of the Pacific coast of Guatemala, collecting sand samples in two seasons and identifying particles by FTIR spectroscopy. This is among the first microplastic studies from Guatemala, providing baseline data for a country with limited plastic pollution monitoring.
