Rawa Pening adalah danau alam di Jawa Tengah yang dimanfaatkan untuk budidaya perikanan dengan karamba. Sembilan sungai yang masuk ke Rawa Pening berpotensi berkontribusi menyumbangkan polutan dan salah satunya adalah mikroplastik. Mikroplastik adalah material dari polimer sintetik dengan ukuran kurang dari 5 mm, yang dapat menyebabkan gangguan kesehatan pada manusia jika terkonsumsi. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengidentifikasi cemaran mikroplastik pada ikan konsumsi yang dibudidayakan di Rawa Pening. Metode penelitian adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan cara menganalisis kandungan mikroplastik pada air Rawa Pening, ikan mujaer dan nila dengan teknik pengapungan senyawa polimer sintetik dengan NaCl 4% dan diamati dengan mikroskop pada perbesaran 40×. Hasil pengamatan menunjukan adanya kandungan mikroplastik pada air Rawa Pening, ikan mujaer dan nila. Mikroplastik yang ditemukan dikategorikan dalam bentuk fragmen, fiber, film dan monofilament. Adanya cemaran mikroplastik tersebut menjadi ancaman bagi keamanan pangan dan kesehatan manusia uang mengonsumsinya. Perlu upaya menciptakan budidaya perikanan yang aman dan pengolahan hasil perikanan yang baik dan benar agar bisa memutus translokasi mikroplastik ke tubuh manusia.
