Science Communication as a Creative Endeavor
Summary
Researchers developed a science communication training programme at the CONNECT 2025 conference for students and lecturers in the Western Balkans, using group projects to build skills in presenting and communicating scientific research across borders.
CONNECT 2025 was a conference for students and lecturers in the Western Balkans to connect and improve scientific cooperation between their countries. Students were given a chance to work on group projects where they would learn how to present and communicate their scientific research. In this article, I describe my experiences at CONNECT 2025 with a focus on the group project I participated in. I emphasize the creative process behind science communication and the structured approach to artistic creation.

Bridging the gap: enhancing science communication in synthetic biology with specific teaching modules, school laboratories, performance and theater
Researchers presented four science communication strategies for synthetic biology education, including iGEM student modules at TU Berlin, public 'Long Night of the Sciences' events, theatrical performance formats, and school laboratory programs designed to bridge the gap between scientists and the general public.
Visual Science Communication: The next generation scientific poster
Researchers developed a next-generation interactive scientific poster format that combines traditional academic poster elements with digital interactivity, aiming to improve how scientific findings are communicated to both professional and public audiences.
STEAM Project-Based Learning Activities at the Science Museum as an Effective Training for Future Chemistry Teachers
A project-based STEAM learning methodology developed for pre-service chemistry teachers at a science museum was found effective in connecting non-formal learning environments to teacher training, enhancing engagement with scientific disciplines and pedagogical skills.
The laboratory didactics in the training-learning processes of sea sciences applied to cultural heritage and environment: the case of "An Ocean of Science" project
Researchers evaluated an educational project called 'An Ocean of Science' that used marine science laboratory activities to develop practical skills and knowledge in secondary school students, focusing on cultural heritage in marine environments and ocean protection. Assessment of student engagement and learning outcomes across multiple laboratory sessions demonstrated that active, hands-on learning approaches effectively improved scientific competence and increased student awareness of marine environmental issues.
Changing Debates and Shifting Landscapes in Science Studies: Exploring How Graduate Students with Varied Backgrounds Think About the Role of Value-Judgments in Science
This study explores how graduate students from science and science studies backgrounds engage with the role of value judgments in scientific practice, finding that interdisciplinary dialogue helped students recognise how values shape research without undermining scientific objectivity.
