This study builds a model to track how microplastics build up in the environment over time and how much people end up exposed to, based on the type of plastic and product. The key takeaway: not all plastics break down or accumulate the same way, so understanding which products create the most long-term microplastic exposure could help identify where to focus efforts on reducing our contact with these particles. This kind of modeling is a step toward better understanding a health concern scientists are still working to fully measure.
