Improvement of Wastewater Treatment Process Using Nanomaterials and Nanotechnology
Summary
This review evaluated how nanomaterials—including nano-adsorbents, photocatalysts, and membranes—can improve wastewater treatment efficiency for emerging contaminants including microplastics, heavy metals, and pharmaceuticals. Advanced wastewater treatment is a critical line of defense against microplastic environmental release, as conventional treatment plants allow significant quantities of micro- and nanoplastics to pass through into receiving water bodies.
