Developing grade 9–10 students' understanding of microplastics and their harm through integrated biology and mathematics activities
Original title: Developing grade 9–10 students’ understanding of microplastics and their harm through integrated biology and mathematics activities
Summary
This study isn't about microplastics' health effects directly—it's about teaching high schoolers to understand microplastic pollution better by combining biology and math lessons. Researchers tested students before and after these lessons and found their knowledge and awareness of microplastics improved, and students found the activities engaging and helpful. This matters because understanding how microplastics work and spread is a first step toward making informed choices to reduce exposure—and educating the next generation may help build lasting habits and awareness around this growing environmental and health concern.
