Summary
Scientists found that tiny plastic particles (nanoplastics) harmed water fleas—a small aquatic creature—by making them less healthy and even affecting their offspring's ability to reproduce, all while also changing how a fungal parasite spread through the population. While this study was done in a lab animal, not humans, it adds to growing evidence that nanoplastics can disrupt biological systems across generations, which matters given how widespread plastic pollution has become in our water, food, and environment.
