This study aimed to develop an eco-friendly bioplastic using cucumber (Cucumis sativus) peels and orange (Citrus × sinensis) peels as alternative materials to help reduce plastic waste. It specifically investigated different ratios (1:1, 3:1, and 1:0) to determine which combination would produce the best results in terms of tensile strength, water absorption, and structural integrity. The method involved extracting natural polymers from the peels, combining them with a plasticizer being glycerin, and forming bioplastic films that were dried and tested based on their physical properties. The results showed that the 1:0 and 3:1 compositions performed moderately, but both were less effective compared to the 1:1 ratio, which showed the best overall performance. These findings support polymer science, which explains that combining different natural polymers in balanced proportions can enhance the overall properties of a material. The study is significant because it demonstrates that agricultural waste can be effectively transformed into useful, biodegradable products. By applying the concept of biodegradation, the research contributes to reducing environmental pollution and offers a sustainable alternative to conventional plastics.
