Plastic pollution has become one of the most serious environmental challenges due to its slow degradation and widespread use. This study examines the process of plastic degradation and its environmental and health impacts. Plastics break down into microplastics, which are harmful to ecosystems and human health. The research is based on both primary and secondary data. A questionnaire survey was conducted among 50 respondents to understand public awareness and behavior regarding plastic usage. The findings show that although awareness about plastic pollution is high, actual behavioral change is low due to convenience and lack of alternatives. The study highlights the environmental impact of plastic degradation, including marine pollution, soil contamination, and health risks caused by microplastics. It also suggests solutions such as reducing plastic usage, improving waste management, promoting eco-friendly alternatives, and increasing awareness. Overall, the study emphasizes the need for collective efforts from individuals, industries, and governments to reduce plastic pollution and move toward a sustainable future.
