Esta revisión examina el problema de la contaminación por plásticos en los mares de América del Sur, analizando fuentes terrestres y marinas, distribución espacial y efectos sobre la fauna marina. El estudio destaca la necesidad de políticas regionales coordinadas para reducir los aportes de plástico desde los grandes ríos sudamericanos.
