The bachelor thesis focuses on the topic of sustainable fashion in the circular economy of the European Union countries. Its goal is to evaluate the most used material in the sphere of sustainable fashion of the chosen region. The theoretical part defines important concepts such as fast fashion, sustainable development, circular economy and product life cycle. It points to the risk of greenwashing and mentions environmental labelling as a possibility to avoid it. It describes and evaluates the most occurring clothing materials and more sustainable alternatives. The problem of microplastics and their negative effects on the environment and human health is mentioned. Besides conventional, organic and recycled materials are described some innovative materials, emerging in the European market. These innovative fibers have big potential on the sustainable fashion market and also as a substitution to some not that environment-friendly ones. The practical part is processed in a form of a questionnaire of institutions in the sector of the sustainable fashion industry in the EU. The questionnaire evaluates organic cotton as the most used material of the European Union sustainable fashion market. Natural materials predominate over synthetic ones and organic materials over recycled ones.
