Summary

Researchers examined microplastic ingestion by migratory waterfowl at inland wetlands, detecting particles in fecal samples from multiple duck and goose species. The study demonstrated that freshwater birds can ingest and excrete microplastics during migration, suggesting that bird movement may redistribute particles between geographically distant aquatic systems.

Plastic pollution in the environment is currently receiving global attention. Improper dumping of disused or abandoned plastic waste leads to environmental pollution. A Pre -experimental one group pretest-posttest design was adopted to assess the effectiveness of planned teaching programme on knowledge regarding mismanagement of plastic waste and its environmental hazards among the primary school students in selected primary schools of Kamrup District, Assam.86 primary school students were selected using convenience sampling technique. Self -structured knowledge questionnaire was used to collect the data. Result shows that in the pre -test majority 60 (69.7%) had moderately adequate knowledge, 6 (7%) had adequate knowledge and 20 (23.3%) had inadequate knowledge. In post -test, out of 86 respondents, 53 (61.6%) had moderately adequate knowledge, 25 (29.1%) had adequate knowledge and 8 (9.3%) had inadequate. In pre -test mean knowledge score was 12.131.714and in post -test mean knowledge score was 22.472.151with mean difference of 10.33.The comparison was tested using paired t test with obtained (t=36.28)was statistically significant at p0.05 level of significant. The study revealed that area of residence was found significant association with pre -test knowledge. The study concludes that Planned Teaching Programme was effective and useful means of educating the primary school students to improve their knowledge.
