Studie nakládání s čistírenským kalem na vybrané čistírně odpadních vod

Jordan Journal of Biological Sciences 2024

Summary

Researchers quantified microplastic deposition in mountain lake sediments at high elevations in a remote region, finding significant particle concentrations despite the absence of nearby human settlements. Atmospheric transport and deposition were identified as the primary input pathway, demonstrating the global reach of microplastic contamination.

Study Type Environmental

The bachelor thesis focuses on the issue of sewage treatment sludge. The issue of wastewater, including its pollution indicators, is very briefly mentioned in the literature review. The characteristics of sludge, their classification and processing methods are described in more detail here. Part of the literature review is a survey of sludge production in the Czech Republic compared to the EU and the possibility of its use, which is also confronted with different approaches within the EU states. The final part of the literature review is devoted to the issue of sludge pollution by microplastics and other modern pollutants, which represents a complication for the prospective use of sludge in applications to agricultural land. The practical part characterizes the study area. Furthermore, a survey and data collection were carried out at selected wastewater treatment plant. Based on the acquired data, the efficiency of treatment is evaluated, the sludge management and treatment technology of treatment sludge are described. Alternative solution for sludge dewatering technology is proposed based on the gathered information. The result of the thesis is a comprehensive view of sewage sludge management, which is applied to a selected wastewater treatment plant, and a comparison of the benefits or shortcomings of the proposed expansion of the technology.
